Christmas in July

Launching, appropriately in July – Zazzle’s line up of fun items & gifts featuring dagdart’s design to carry the message of Christmas throughout the year.

Simple, uplifting and hopefully inspiring

The entire collection is available at Zazzle’s Every Day is Christmas.

Reminders that the message of Christmas offers us, each and every day, the opportunity to make a difference by spreading love, goodwill, performing acts of kindness, and lending hope to another person we cross paths with.

A New Pasture!

I am so pleased to announce the new home of Huntley & Brinkley at

The Luther Burbank Center for the Arts – Santa Rosa, CA

It was a multi day installation. Nothing ever goes quite as smoothly as one would like. This was no exception. Buried pipes were unearthed while digging and had to be reckoned with before proceeding with the installation of Brinkley.

Huntley came refreshed after receiving a fresh powder coat and wrap for transport to the site.

Their location is fabulous! They joined the Art Walk surrounding the center and have a sensational view of Route 101 and best of all, evenings of music to dance to.

Brinkley made it to the site!

Passers by heading north to Healdsburg and beyond have a great view of these fellows.

Many thanks to the the Luther Burbank Center’s Visual Arts Committee and Anita Wiglesworth!

Ricardo

Ricardo has been my most complex and colorful sculpture to date…….. At just over 6 feet he’s pretty darn charismatic.

The layering of powder coated aluminum plates has been one way for me to achieve multiple colors in a sculpture.

In the future I hope to be able to combine two or more colors on a single plate of aluminum through some very creative powder coating. Stand by!

Baths and R&R

The Sheeeep! are back at the studio for some much needed baths and R&R before heading back to pasture. Huntley & Brinkley have weathered 3+ years in the field. Aside from being really, really dirty they have held up beautifully. Powder-coating is an amazing finish!

Cutting the Cord with Facebook….

I will no longer be posting on Facebook. Please stay in touch by visiting here: http://www.dagdart.com and checking this “NEWS BLOG” for the craziness I find fun to post on occasion. Don’t hesitate to respond to posts. Aside from letters, emails, texts, and phone calls – which I truly appreciate, this is a great way to let me know you are out there! Deborah

Posted on Instagram……..

Just discovered a great photograph of “The Passengers” taken and posted on Instagram which reminded me ….. Recently the City of Sarasota commissioned the creation of an audio tour of the City’s public art collection and I was invited to say a few words about my installation.

Public Art Collection Audio Tour

The City’s Public Art Collection audio tour is on the Otocast app. Download it to your mobile phone or ipad. Once downloaded select or search for – Sarasota Public Art. You can read a short description of the artwork, find links to related websites, watch videos, scroll through a photo gallery, or listen to a custom narrative. It can connect you to hundreds of art sites!

Lily

“Lily” was installed as a public sculpture in Sarasota, Florida. She complimented the lily filled water element along historic Palm Avenue. Passers-by were tickled to take photos of friends and family with her.

One of my young, accomplished students kindly posed with her…………….

Today the whimsical alligator is enjoying beautiful private accommodations having been purchased and relocated by a private collector.
