When I was packing up my studio for the move to California I discovered a portfolio filled with posters from one of my shows at Brubaker Gallery. The image is of my painting of the village of Carversville, PA that was settled along the banks of the Paunnacussing Creek. The painting hangs in our home today. I could never part with it.

Sarasota, Florida became the winter home for “The Greatest Show on Earth”, The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus in 1927. It was a formidable training center for the artists and champions of the circus. For the spectator, the winter quarters provided and up close and personal look at the amazing acts and animals that made the circus such a spectacular show.
In the 1950’s a huge metal sign was erected to attract visitors to this unique facility. The sign and the quarters no longer exist. The circus moved its winter home to Venice and then on to Tampa, Florida and in 2017 the circus ended forever.
The poster is sold in the John and Mable Ringling Museum gift shops in Sarasota, Florida but if you can’t get there or they’ve sold out, you can order one or more here……..
