The Casino, Florida in the 50’s”
The Casino was an enormously popular complex of restaurants, lounges, shops, swimming pool, cabanas and lifeguard towers on Sarasota, Florida’s pristine Lido Beach. It was designed by architect, Ralph Twitchell and built as a WPA project. It formally opened in 1940. Sadly, it was demolished a mere 29 years later in 1969. The swimming pool is all that remains.
